Daughter’s experience caring for dad inspires new Staffordshire care service

A couple have launched a new home care service covering Cannock, Lichfield and Tamworth, inspired by their own experience of caring for a family member.

Harj and Hemani Gill have officially launched Visiting Angels after registering with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The service aims to help people remain independent in their own homes, with a focus on providing reliable care and building lasting relationships between carers and the people they support.
Hemani’s father received care at home for more than a decade, an experience that helped shape the couple’s approach to their new business.
She said: “We had some wonderful carers who became like part of our family, and I’ll always be incredibly grateful for the dignity, kindness and compassion they gave my dad.
“But there were also frustrations. Carers would change, sometimes people didn’t know his routine or what mattered to him, and on occasions visits felt rushed.
“It made me realise just how important continuity, reliability and having enough time really are when you’re caring for someone.”
Both Harj and Hemani have more than a decade of experience working for the Witness Service, supporting victims and witnesses as they navigate the court system.
Harj said their experience of supporting vulnerable people had influenced their decision to establish the business, adding that they wanted care workers to feel valued and properly supported.
The company says it will offer financial rewards, ongoing training and opportunities for career development to its care team.
Registered manager Tiegan Norris will oversee the day-to-day running of the service and support staff in delivering care.
She said: “We want every person we support to feel that they are genuinely known and listened to. Care should never feel like a series of tasks.
“It’s about building relationships, understanding what matters to someone and supporting them to live the life they want to live.”
The team has also begun building links with local organisations and groups supporting older people, those living with dementia and their families.
Hemani said the aim was to provide reassurance to families who wanted to know their loved ones were receiving compassionate care.
Visiting Angels covers Cannock, Lichfield and Tamworth.
