Kayla Adams-Kolmer won the duo category at a UK dance competition in Blackpool, as well as securing two other podium places
A South Staffordshire College student has been crowned a national dance champion after competing at a UK competition in Blackpool.
Kayla Adams-Kolmer, who studies Year 10 Elective Home Education Creative Media at Cannock College, represented Hednesford-based Crystal Academy Aerial Arts and Dance CIC at the Follow Your Dreams UK Nationals.
The competition took place at The Grand Hotel in Blackpool from October 22 to 25, bringing together dancers who had qualified to compete at national level.
Kayla won the duo category alongside her dance partner, Ava. She also took second place in jazz and third place in ballet.
Karen Burley, head of 14-16 provision at South Staffordshire College, said: “We are incredibly proud of Kayla and her fantastic results. We’d like to send our warmest congratulations to Kayla and everyone at Crystal Academy on such a brilliant achievement.”
Jason Kolmer, co-founder and director of Crystal Academy, said it was the dance school's first time competing in the national competition circuit.
He said: “We might be a small dance school, with small numbers, but we came home with some huge victories!”
