'End of an era' - West Midlands town centre shop to close after nearly 80 years
The shop has helped generations of photographers and provided wedding photography and a string of other services over almost 80 years.
A Stafford town centre shop that has been running for almost 80 years will be closing next month due to retirement.
Peter Rogers Photographic Ltd has announced it will officially close on Saturday, November 28.
The shop, which opened in 1947 and has been a familiar fixture on Mill Street, has helped generations of photographers with cameras, studio portraits, and expert advice.
It also offers printing services, photo restoration, passport photos and wedding photography.

The team posted on social media that they will still be there to help customers with printing, copying, passports, and more until the shop closes.
The store is also having a closing down sale.
The team posted on social media this week: “On November 28th we'll be closing due to retirement.
“To clear remaining stock, we have up to 25 per cent off. Until we go, we'll still be here to help you with printing, copying, passports, and more.”
Following the shop's announcement, many people shared their memories of the shop on social media.
One said: “So sorry to see the end of an era for Stafford, Mill Street will not be the same.
“Peter Rogers and my late father were at school together, and Peter took my parents' wedding photos.
“I remember in the 60s and 70s taking my roll films upstairs to be developed and printed. My dad was a keen photographer and bought all his cameras and kit there.
“Wishing you a long and healthy retirement.”
Another said: “Oh gosh.....congratulations on the retirement but what a shock, the end of an era for Stafford town!”
A third wrote: “So so so sad. I remember bringing my daughter in for her first passport photos ready to go to America that she didn’t know she was going. (I came in and told you secretly that it was for passport and you just did it with no fuss no hassle) so sad but have a lovely retirement. Stafford will not be the same.”
A post on the firm’s website says: “Established back in 1947, our company has grown from a modest post-war venture into a cornerstone of the local community.
“Today, we are proud to stand as Staffordshire and Shropshire’s premier independent camera and photography specialist.
“Operating from our renowned, historic shop on Mill Street in Stafford, we blend decades of traditional expertise with an up-to-date knowledge of cutting-edge imaging technology.
“Our mission is simple: to help everyone capture life’s most precious moments with absolute clarity and artistic flare.”
