Copyright hearing is told of Led Zeppelin's £42m revenue
Stairway to Heaven and other Led Zeppelin songs have produced nearly 60 million dollars (£42 million) in revenue over the past five years, an economist has testified.
Michael Einhorn told jurors on Friday in a LA federal court that songwriters Jimmy Page and Robert Plant have received 58.5m dollars (£40.68m) since 2011 for dozens of works, including Stairway, their most recognisable song.
Einhorn was the final plaintiff in the case against Led Zeppelin, Page and Plant that alleges copyright infringement, by the band Spirit and the estate of Spirit's late guitarist Randy Wolfe.
The action claims Led Zeppelin lifted a passage from the instrumental song Taurus for the introduction to Stairway.
Led Zeppelin lawyers have challenged that 2008 contract, saying it falls outside the statute of limitations in this case.
