Non-league: Kidderminster Harriers boss slams 'awful' first half after derby defeat

The team’s winless league run continued on Saturday.

Boss Paul Wotton slammed an “awful” first half as Kidderminster Harriers’ bad run continued with derby defeat at Solihull Moors.

Lewis Walker gave Harriers the perfect start when he fired them ahead inside three minutes at Damson Park.

But Ben Wodskou levelled almost immediately for the home side, who got the winner just before the break when Ben Crompton put through his own net.

Harriers rallied in the second half but could not find a leveller.

Wotton said: “We had the best start we could have and then after that the first half was awful.

“We did not play it like it was a derby game. The first goal we conceded, in my opinion we never got over that.

“The second goal was just not good enough. I thought our back four looked disjointed. We were playing as individuals and that is just not us.

“I don’t want to say they wanted it more, I just thought we played into their hands.”

Aaron Jarvis netted on the stroke of half-time to earn Hednesford Town a 1-0 win at Chester.

The victory lifted the Pitmen up to seventh in National League North.

Charlie Wragg was the toast of Stourbridge after his hat-trick helped them thrash Kettering 4-1 in the Southern League Central Premier.

But the striker nearly had to settle for just a double, as boss Scott Adey-Linforth later explained: “He was lucky as he missed a chance (for the third) and I was about to bring him off.

“He then got another chance and the goal and deserves the match ball.

“I am really pleased for Wraggy. He has been working so hard the last few weeks.”

Halesowen Town were also big winners as they claimed a 4-0 victory at Stamford.

Rob Evans capped the win with his first goal for 10 months after Jason Cowley, Vanylson Silva and Matt Preston had found the net.

Rushall Olympic suffered disappointment as they went down 1-0 at home to Racing Club Warwick.

Chasetown were 3-1 winners at home to Witton Albion in the Northern League West Division.

But Stafford Rangers ended up on the wrong side of an eight-goal thriller as they were beaten 5-3 at Lower Breck, while Lichfield City lost 6-1 at Padiham.
