Jordanne Whiley chasing her perfect 10

Jordanne Whiley was this morning attempting to win her first Grand Slam title in three years – and her first since giving birth to son Jackson.

The Halesowen tennis ace was partnering Yui Kamiji in the final of the Australian Open women’s wheelchair doubles against Diede De Groot and Aniek Van Koot.

They thrashed second seeds Sabine Ellerbrock and Kgothatso Montjane 6-1, 6-4 in yesterday’s semi-final to set up the showpiece tie against the Dutch top seeds in Melbourne.

Whiley and Kamiji have won nine Grand Slam doubles titles together – including a clean sweep in 2014, as well as their most recent at Wimbledon 2017 when Whiley was 11 weeks pregnant.

Kamiji ended Whiley’s singles hopes in the quarter-finals earlier this week.

Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in straight sets to set up a men’s singles final against either Dominic Thiem or Alexander Zverev. That second semi-final goes ahead today.

Elsewhere, American Sofia Kenin will face Garbine Muguruza in the women’s singles final after they upset Ashleigh Barty and Simona Halep, respectively.
