Everything you need to know about Wolves’ new left-back Ghislain Konan.

Ghislain Konan became Wolves’ second late arrival of the summer transfer window following David Moller Wolfe’s departure.

The experienced left-back arrives at Molineux having played in France, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Portugal, as well as earning 57 caps for Ivory Coast.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new recruit.

Career beginnings

Konan began his career with Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas before moving to Portugal with Vitoria Guimares.

The left-back made 57 appearances for Vitoria before joining French side Reims in 2018.

Experience across Europe and Saudi Arabia

Konan spent four seasons at Reims, making 99 appearances in all competitions, including 95 in Ligue 1.

Konan then returned to Europe, joining Spanish second-tier side Burgos in January 2025 for the remainder of the season.

Reunion with Peixoto

Konan joined Gil Vicente ahead of the 2025/26 season and made 31 appearances.

He worked under new Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto, who was keen to reunite with the defender following Wolfe’s departure.

International pedigree

Konan is a 57-cap Ivory Coast international and made his debut in a World Cup qualifier against Mali in October 2017.

He represented his country at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations before helping Ivory Coast win the 2023 edition on home soil.

Konan was also part of the Ivory Coast squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and featured three times at this summer’s World Cup in North America, where his side reached the knockout stages before losing to Norway in the round of 32.

Wolves move

Konan had been training alone following his return from the World Cup after leaving Gil Vicente.

The 30-year-old has now reunited with Peixoto at Wolves, signing a one-year deal and providing competition for Hugo Bueno at left-back.
