Wolves chairman backs new boy to settle quickly after Cesar Peixoto reunion
Wolves had Konan lined up before Wolfe’s exit to the Bundesliga.
Wolves chairman Nathan Shi hopes Ghislain Konan’s familiarity with boss Cesar Peixoto will help him settle into English football quickly.
The Ivory Coast international has reunited with Peixoto at Molineux after playing under the Wolves head coach at Gil Vicente last season.
Shi revealed Wolves had already identified the 30-year-old as an option earlier in the transfer window should David Moller Wolfe leave.
He said: “Ghislain was a player Cesar identified earlier in the window and he remained an option for us should David’s situation change.

“We understood David’s desire to play regularly and were able to facilitate that move, knowing we had a player available who Cesar knows well and trusts.
“Having worked with Cesar and his staff at Gil Vicente, Ghislain already understands the demands of the coaching team, the playing style and how they want the team to operate.
“That familiarity should help him settle quickly, and we’ll give him all the support he needs as he adapts to the club and English football.”

Wolfe joined German side Hamburg on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day in search of regular first-team football.
The 24-year-old made 26 appearances for Wolves last season after joining in the summer and started the Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers, as well as the EFL Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
Konan has arrived on a one-year deal to provide competition for Hugo Bueno at left-back following Wolfe’s departure.
He made 31 appearances under Peixoto at Gil Vicente last season, helping the Portuguese side secure European qualification.
The 30-year-old has been training alone since leaving Gil Vicente after featuring for Ivory Coast at this summer’s World Cup in North America.

Wolves technical director Matt Jackson has also backed Konan to thrive under Peixoto again.
He added: “Cesar spoke about Ghislain’s great personality and his real desire to play football.
“He has quality and is a top international player. He’s got great physicality and great enthusiasm to play, so they couldn't speak highly enough of him, and from the contact I’ve had with him, he’s been nothing but professional.
“He’s a really good player who has played at the highest level and should be a really good addition for us. He has high expectations and wants us back at the highest level - that's his ambition for us.
“He’s delighted to be with Cesar and his team again and just wants to get going. We're delighted to have him here.”
