Walter Zenga: Wolves must restore honour

Wolves boss Walter Zenga has called for his players to 'take back their honour' after their midweek drubbing by Barnsley.

Zenga's Wolves were today set to face the daunting prospect of trying to bounce back against a Newcastle United team in fine form.

They then face the Magpies again on Tuesday in the EFL Cup.

The players travelled north to Newcastle yesterday and will remain there between the two matches.

And Zenga – who has been pleased with the response from his players on the training ground – wants to see his team show a reaction today.

"I want to see the team compact, I want to see the reaction, I want to see them take back their honour," he said.

"We lost something – when you receive a 4-0 slap in your house you feel ashamed, you feel frustrated.

"We have to show that we are a team. We are professionals and know what to do after one unexpected result."

Zenga admitted a change he made after Wolves went 1-0 down on Tuesday – replacing Dominic Iorfa with Ivan Cavaleiro and switching Conor Coady to right-back – unbalanced his team.

The Italian added: "If we're talking about a bad result and don't accept we have a bad result, it means we choose the wrong job.

"In sport you win and lose, sometimes good performances, sometimes bad.

"It's not like if you win that everything is okay, and if you lost everything is in the garbage.

"It's a long season. If we win five games in a row or we don't win for five games, we must not change our mentality. Stability in the most important thing.

"When something doesn't happen in the right way you have to show it was an accident.

"Football always gives you a chance to show something."
