Stephen Ward warning of Peterborough threat

Stephen Ward today warned Wolves they could "quite easily" get turned over by rock-bottom Peterborough tomorrow if they don't approach the game right.

The Molineux vice-captain reckons Wolves got the come-uppance they needed when they were bullied and beaten at Leeds and Cardiff in their first two away games.

Stale Solbakken's side addressed their away record on Wednesday when they won 2-0 at Ipswich for their first success on their travels since February and go to London Road tomorrow with the confidence of back-to-back league wins for the first time since August 2011.

By contrast, Posh – managed for the second time by former Wolves midfielder Darren Ferguson and boasting former Molineux academy graduates Mark Little and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing – have started with six straight defeats in the Championship.

But Ward insists they must take the formbook out of the equation if they are to continue their improved run.

"We can't afford to think of it that way – we have to go there and do what we've been doing," said the Ireland international.

"If we go there believing they're on a bad run and we're on a good run, we could get turned over quite easily. In the first two away games, we maybe didn't approach them in the right manner – and we got the kick up the backside which we needed.

"We went to Ipswich thinking positively and, after Sunday's win, we wanted to get off the mark away from home.

"Any team can beat any other in this league so we've got to show the same attitude and the same preparation as we showed at Ipswich and hopefully we can get another positive result."

Ward admits Wolves are adapting to the differences between the Championship and the Premier League, with more games but without the same quality of players. But the 26-year-old said: "The Championship is different – the games come thick and fast but you have to be mentally prepared. We won't get carried away by the two wins."

and we've started preparing for Saturday immediately – the process of getting our bodies ready has started."
