Slawomir Peszko back training at Wolves

Slawomir Peszko is set to hand Wolves a New Year boost after returning to training.

The on-loan Cologne winger rejoined his team-mates for part of yesterday's session for the first time since recovering from a torn medial ligament sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on October 2.

Manager Stale Solbakken said: "He did a little bit of passing with the guys yesterday for the first time. But it's too early to say when he'll be on the pitch.

"We're trying to get him fit to play football fully by January 1. He joined in with passing and, hopefully, after 15 days he can step up to normal football training.

"Then he will need match practice."

The return of Peszko and Jamie O'Hara will have a bearing on whether Wolves keep on-loan Stoke wide man Jermaine Pennant.

The Wolves boss said: "Not only with Peszko, but the overall picture with Jamie too.

"We've lost Razak Boukari now so I don't ask 'when is he back?' But we have to monitor the two others very closely."

Meanwhile, Boukari has returned from France after treatment on his rare calf injury.

Solbakken said: "Razak is back from France, the important thing now is we are going in a certain way.

"He's better now because the road is marked out for him in a way.

"The French specialist is in conversation with our doctor and physio and I think that helps him.

"It's a big relief for him because at the start we talked about him being back in four weeks as a best-case scenario and we certainly thought we would have him back within six.

"Now it's 12 to 13 weeks and for him it's killing him inside."

O'Hara was was involved in a full-scale practice game at Compton yesterday, as he continues his recovery from hernia surgery.

The manager said: "Hopefully he's getting closer and he can build on that with no set-backs."

Bjorn Sigurdarson, Kevin Doyle and Bakary Sako all have small knocks but Solbakken said: "I think they are minor."
