Matt Murray: It's simple, 17 wins and Wolves take the title

It must have been incredibly frustrating for Wolves, especially as the club had such good momentum, to suffer another postponement with Saturday's game against Stevenage called off.

It is going to mean a build up of fixtures at a crucial stage of the season, which is when the strength of our squad will be tested to the full. But we have the depth, talent and character to cope.

Better news on Saturday was Orient's late defeat at home to Peterborough, leaving us in an automatic promotion spot.

While the cynic might suggest Stevenage were perhaps not that keen to play considering they were missing their centre-backs against a side in top form, equally we must remember it wasn't long ago that the Hertfordshire club was in the Conference and this is League One.

The Wolves fans are loving the away trips to new, small grounds, but they have to expect that atrocious weather is going to get games at this level called off occasionally.

The most optimistic Wolves statisticians have pointed out that our fate is now in our hands. The maths is simple – on paper at least. Win all our remaining games – a mere 17 - and Wolves will be promoted as League One champions. That is exactly the positive approach we need and Wolves should embrace it. You want your destiny in your own hands.

Those with glasses half-empty look at our remaining fixtures, see away games at Brentford and Orient and see a threat. Obviously they will be very tough games we probably cannot afford to lose in the fight for automatic promotion, but I say bring them on and so will the players. On our day, home or away, we are the best team in the league.

Treat them as great opportunities, as they are the proverbial 'six pointers' at critical stages in the season. London is calling our amazing travelling support and a young squad, undeniably now Kenny Jackett's squad, is brimming with confidence.

Even our loans out of the club are working at the moment. Kevin Doyle got off to a goal-scoring start at Queens Park Rangers and on Saturday Zeli Ismail scored a great winner for Burton Albion in League Two.

I saw Ismail last week and he is enjoying life at Burton and getting his head down. He is working on his match fitness and being out on loan is giving him game time and sharpness. It was good to see the swagger in that goal, his first in the League, because young Zeli has all the skills and is clearly being given license to run at defenders. What's good for Burton is great for Wolves.
