Tuesday's Carling Cup exit at Rotherham did not devastate the team – but it was still desperately disappointing after such a promising start.

He said: "We're all gutted, we're not shocked because that's football – things happen. But gutted, definitely.

"There were a lot of negatives that we've got to look at but that's football. We don't forget about it completely but we work on the bad points ahead of a massive game on Saturday. We've just to focus on the weekend now and move on.

"We've got to show what we're about and get back to winning ways first of all, then we'll take it from there.

"We've had four hard games and we're disappointed but that's part and parcel of football. You've got to work on the negatives and take the positives out of the game into the weekend.

"It's a massive game before the international break and we want to leave for it on good terms."

The experienced striker is also anxious the club – players and fans – do not get ahead of themselves because of the encouraging start.

"The Championship has proven it time and time again. There are 24 teams who all have strong squads and a bit of money about them, all pushing for the same thing.

"There are no weak teams in this division. I don't think we can be called favourites.

"We've got a good squad with good young players who have good heads and ability, but it's a hard and long season.

"We know we've got to work our socks off but we're willing to do that."
