Cesar Peixoto hails ‘very important’ Wolves victory over fierce rivals Albion
Peixoto said Wolves win over West Brom was deserved.
Cesar Peixoto hailed a “very important” victory as Wolves struck Black Country derby gold at Molineux.
Peixoto celebrated wildly with his staff and players at full-time after Wolves delivered a memorable victory over their fierce rivals.
The Wolves boss felt his side deserved the win but was keen to remain grounded afterwards, insisting it was still just three points on the board.
“It’s very important. It is only three points, but we know the importance of this game for our supporters. We wanted to win this game for our supporters, but for ourselves as well.

“The players deserved this win, they played with a big soul, big organisation, and great quality. We created a lot of chances and could have scored more goals.
“We are going to rest now because of the international break. It is important to rest because of the win and come back as strong as possible when we return to training.”
Fer Lopez’s second-half strike supplied Wolves with a historic victory and made it back-to-back wins over Albion.
Wolves were backed by a packed and raucous Molineux throughout Sunday’s showdown, which marked the first meeting between the sides in front of supporters at the stadium for 14 years.
At full-time, Wolves’ players celebrated joyously with the Molineux faithful, alongside Peixoto, who led three cheers in front of the South Bank.
The Wolves boss hailed the support from the stands as they helped drive his side to victory.
“The fans today were amazing,” he added. “They pushed the team to the end. I thought the team did a great job today.
“This win is important to the supporters, but it is only three points in the pocket. The Championship season is long, tough and we have to stay fit and work hard like we did today.”
The derby marked Wolves’ first and only home game of September, following four consecutive away matches.

The scoreline matched that of a week earlier, with consecutive 1-0 wins and clean sheets for Peixoto’s side as they head into the lengthy international break inside the Championship play-off places.
Wolves also climbed above their Black Country rivals with the victory, something the Old Gold boss hailed as another significant aspect of the result.
“We played four away games in a row,” Peixoto said. “We return to our home in a derby, an important game, against a good team in West Brom.
“They had more points than us and it is a very important victory because of that also.
“I like the way we played. When we had to press high, we pressed high, we reacted strong, we played with quality. When we had to suffer a little in the final minutes, we closed it out.
“We could score more goals, but we deserve the win. This kind of environment and the way the team played make me happy.”
