'We've other targets': Stoke warn West Brom as Saido Berahino saga continues

Albion's coaching staff have 'no idea' if Saido Berahino is leaving the club, as Stoke warned the Baggies they have other irons in the fire.

Berahino is due to play in tonight's pre-season friendly against Plymouth Argyle having travelled down to Devon yesterday with the rest of the squad.

The Baggies have already refused bids around £20million from Stoke and Crystal Palace this summer and won't sell until they buy a striker.

When assistant boss Dave Kemp was asked if Berahino would still be at the club come the start of the season, he said: "I have no idea. You could have asked me that question any day since I've been here.

"It's something we sort of inherited really. All these rumours and things, he's a West Brom player and that's what we're working with. He scored two goals against Kidderminster. He's looked sharp, he's trained well, that's all you can ask for."

Stoke are favourites to sign Berahino this summer but Potters chief executive Tony Scholes suggested they may start looking elsewhere.

"If we are looking to bring in a player we never just chase one player for a position," he said.

"We always chase a few."

But Kemp, who is planning to scout Brighton's pre-season friendly with Lazio on Sunday, says the long-running Berahino saga hasn't distracted him and head coach Tony Pulis.

"There's always ups and downs and this crisis and that crisis," he said.

"You can't let things affect you, you just keep on working."

Pulis is returning to Home Park today, where he turned around a struggling Plymouth side in the 2005/06 season.

"Everybody who is fit will be travelling," said the Baggies boss.

"I'm not saying we will start with our best team but it will be very close to it."

Free agent Leon Best has been training with Albion in order to stay fit and centre-back Kyle Howkins, 20, has joined League Two Mansfield Town on loan until January.
