West Brom working on deal to land French defender Nolan Galves
Albion are hoping to win the race for Rodez right-back Nolan Galves as talks over a summer move continue.
West Brom are working on a deal to sign French defender Nolan Galves.
The 23-year-old right-back, who plays for Ligue 2 side Rodez, is a leading target for Albion as they look to strengthen their options in the wide defensive areas.
Galves has attracted interest from several Championship clubs, with Southampton also pushing to secure his signature.
It is understood Albion are hopeful of making progress in the coming days as negotiations continue, with the player set to decide his preferred destination.

The update comes after head coach James Morrison said the club is “working extremely hard” to make further additions as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Championship season.
Galves’ arrival would continue Albion’s defensive rebuild following the confirmation of Connor Townsend’s return to The Hawthorns on Friday.
Reports in Europe claim both Albion and Southampton have reached agreements with Rodez, leaving the final decision in Galves’ hands.
Championship rivals QPR and Millwall have also been linked with the 23-year-old this summer, along with Swiss side Young Boys and Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice.
Galves impressed for Rodez last season, making 36 appearances in all competitions and registering eight assists, including one in the Ligue 1 promotion/relegation play-off.
If he joins Albion, Galves would become the club’s sixth signing of the summer and their third defensive addition. Young centre-back Carter Pinnington was the first defender through the door after arriving from Liverpool last month, before Townsend completed his return.
Defence remains an area Albion are keen to strengthen, but they are also targeting reinforcements in the wide attacking positions. Mikey Johnston is currently the only recognised senior winger in Morrison’s squad.
The Baggies also retain an interest in bringing Danny Imray back to the club.
Morrison’s side continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 victory at League Two side Shrewsbury Town on Saturday. Another Albion XI also suffered a 3-1 defeat to Notts County in a behind-closed-doors friendly earlier in the day.
