West Brom loan out Kemar Roofe to Oxford

West Brom winger Kemar Roofe will further his first-team experience under former Baggies coach Michael Appleton at Oxford.

The 22-year-old today joined with Appleton's League Two Us and could make his debut for the club away at Burton Albion tomorrow.

The Walsall-born wide man will spend his time under the tutelage of the former Albion player and once caretaker boss at the Kassam Stadium.

Roofe is out-of-contract at the Hawthorns in the summer and has yet to make a first-team appearance, with this his fifth loan spell away.

He's previously served Icelandic outfit Vikingur Reykjavik, Northampton, Cheltenham - where he scored his only senior goal - and Colchester.

He becomes the fifth reserve to be loaned out this season after goalkeeper Jack Rose, Wes Atkinson, Bradley Garmston, Liam O'Neil and Donervorn Daniels.

It's left West Brom Under-21 boss Jimmy Shan short on numbers, but the youngsters are still defending an eight-game unbeaten run.

They take that record to non-league Hednesford Town on Tuesday night, as they look to progress from a Birmingham Senior Cup quarter-final.
