Our situation reminds me of being a kid and on our way to Aberystwyth in my dad's Montego back in the eighties and asking, are we nearly there yet?
Getting 39 points in any other season and we would be looking forward to another season in the promised land of the Premier League.
This has been a strange old season of football and I am sure no one at the Hawthorns is counting poultry just yet, especially with so much football to go.
But if there were a more perfect set of results in a weekend of football for my beloved club I am yet to see them.
A set of results that has left us 10th in the league and left us all wondering, have we done enough?
All the pundits, fellow Albion fans, and friends of all different followings have all said safety will be 40 plus points this season, and up until this weekend I concurred.
But, with all of the bottom three losing and with only six games left, the seven point gap we have could be just enough. Two wins on the bounce has left us on the cusp of ensuring our Premier League future and that was unthinkable just a short time ago.
The decision made by Jeremy Peace to replace Roberto Di Matteo with the current Premier League manager of the year is looking like the best decision made since Sir Isaac Newton decided to hang out in the orchard and watch apples fall.
Truth is if super Roy keeps his unbeaten run going much longer he could be in with a shout of keeping hold of his trophy so I, for one, will be cheering him on.
Saturday's game was just another example of how he has taken the same squad of players and moulded them into a team that has belief, a shape and a game plan that gives us the platform to get goals and wins.
To come from behind twice and go on to win the game away from home just emphasises the character of this Albion team.
It has a defence which comprises of two full backs that struggled to get a game under our former boss, a goalkeeper who had as much confidence as a virgin on his first date and a centre-half who has been spending his Saturday afternoons for the past two years in Merry Hill looking for a parking space.
The simplicity of the changes has only served to highlight the fact that this squad is the best we have had for many many years.
Our goals on Saturday were great team goals, the spirit pushed us on, and the fabulous travelling army roared every tackle and every shot.
The fact the sun was shining and the beer was cold just added to the party atmosphere and after another wonderful weekend all is good in Baggieland once more.
Six games left and one more win would almost certainly confirm our survival, with tough games to come next we might have to wait a little while longer before popping the champers.
But, with Roy at the helm absolutely anything is possible. Boing blumming boing and I am loving it.
