Confirmed World Cup absence for West Brom man

The attacker had hoped to be his club’s sole representative in North America

Albion attacker Tammer Bany has missed out on a place at the upcoming World Cup.

The 22-year-old has been the forgotten man at The Hawthorns due to a string of fitness setbacks since his move to the club 18 months ago.

But he had hoped to reach this summer’s showpiece in Canada, the United States and Mexico with Jordan after confirming his allegiance to the nation at the beginning of this season.

Bany, who was born in Denmark and is also eligible to represent Palestine, made his international debut for Jordan against Mali last November.

But the former Randers attacker endured a lack of minutes at club level as he struggled to get his Baggies career off the ground. Bany required surgery on a serious thigh injury around the new year.

And Jordan boss Jamal Sellami confirmed his final 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament on Tuesday, without Bany.

Bany would have been the only England-based player to earn a call. The squad’s sole representative in Europe’s top five leagues is captain Musa Al-Taamari, who plays for Rennes in France.

Jordan, who have qualified for the first time, feature in group J alongside champions Argentina.

Bany’s 70 minutes of international friendly action eclipsed the minutes generated in four substitute appearances for Albion despite 45 minutes from the bench in the final game of the season, a 2-1 defeat at bottom side Sheffield Wednesday.

His inclusion for Jordan would have been the club’s single World Cup representative.

Bany has made just eight appearances - all as a substitute - since moving to Albion in a deal worth £3.3million at the end of the 2025 winter window.

His move owed to data as the previous sporting regime, led by the now departed Andrew Nestor, spotted his progress in one year at Danish top flight outfit Randers.

But the attacker has been unable to build up fitness to feature regularly for Albion.
