The Baggies were left deflated in the changing room after Saturday's disappointing 1-0 defeat at bottom club Swansea made it 15 games in all competitions without a win.

But Pardew told each of them to keep their heads up, and Evans believes his methods will start to make an impact in time.

"He's trying to instil confidence in the team, he's encouraging us to go forward and express ourselves," said Evans. "I think the lads are all enjoying that side of it.

"It'll take time, work on the training field. He'll make sure we're well drilled and will build our confidence by doing things over and over again. The confidence will come and results will pick up."

Albion have picked up one point from two games under Pardew and are yet to find the net, but they have also gone nearly four months without winning a game.

Confidence is low, but Pardew is still cheer-leading, and vowed to fix both the psychological and tactical problems on the training pitch.

"The manager said after the game to keep our heads up, make sure this week in training we'll try and work on our attacking play especially," said Evans.

"We had one or two breaks where if we'd been a little bit more composed we could have maybe nicked something on the break and then you've got something to hold onto.

"Unfortunately that wasn't to be and then they've scored and we've only got nine minutes to get something.

"One thing he's been impressed with is our workrate, that's one thing this team can never be questioned about.

"I think he just wants to bring that composure to our play, especially going forward. Have more patience on the ball, and bring goals into our game."

Albion remain in 17th but they've been dragged closer to the drop zone by Swansea and West Ham, who beat Chelsea over the weekend.

The Baggies started brightly on Saturday, but Swansea quickly gained control of the game, and deserved to take the lead when Wilfried Bony smashed home the winner from a corner nine minutes from time.

"At times we found it difficult, Swansea passed the ball very well and kept it from us," said Evans.

"I thought the game was even throughout. To lose a game from a set piece is disappointing for us. There's some aspects of our play we will look to improve on."
