West Brom transfer chief Dan Ashworth today revealed the club might press to sign on-loan goalkeeper Ben Foster on a permanent deal next summer.

The former England international has impressed since joining the Baggies on loan from Birmingham at the start of the season.

Sporting director Ashworth admitted the club will consider trying to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

Ashworth said: "The deal with Birmingham is that if they get promoted there is no availability to buy so, if they get promoted, Ben will definitely be going back.

"When we did the deal in the summer we said it wouldn't even be considered if they got promoted or if we got relegated, so if we're in the same division next season that's that.

"If we're not, we would need and will take a goalkeeper. Ben has come in and done really well and we would have to consider it."
