Walsall boss Lee Grant plotting to crack Crewe's defensive puzzle
Walsall travel to Crewe for their League Two clash under the lights.
Lee Grant is looking forward to the challenge of unlocking a robust Crewe Alexandra defence when Walsall visit Gresty Road on Tuesday night.
Crewe have collected seven points from their opening three games to leave them locked on seven points with the Saddlers and are also the only team in League Two yet to concede a goal.
They opened the season with a pair of 1-0 wins over Crawley Town and Northampton Town respectively, before serving up a goalless stalemate at Port Vale.
Grant ready for Crewe challenge
Walsall have also kept four clean sheets in five games across all competitions, but Grant is relishing the challenge of finding a way to breach the Railwaymen’s defence.
“We have to flip our mindset very quickly. The game might look and feel different, but there are certainly going to be bits that we’ve used and been required of us today that we’ll need on Tuesday night.
“We’ll have to rest up for the next 24 hours and then we’re back at it on with full focus on the opposition.

He continued: “Heading into a tough game against Grimsby, as a staff, we’re really challenged by that because they’re managed and coached really well, and they’ve got good players.
“Crewe have got really good players. They’re not conceding goals, that’s three clean sheets on the spin in the league.
“Unbeaten, two good wins, played against tough opposition on the weekend and held their own.
“Lots of shots, lots of possession, so yes it’s going to be a tough game, but I’m looking forward to it and as are the group.”
Tom Booth has filled in excellent for first-choice goalkeeper Ian Lawlor, who underwent a hernia operation on the eve of the season.
