Richard Taundry today revealed his pride in being part of Walsall's Great Escape bid.
The boyhood Saddler is desperate to help his team avoid the drop after they have come back from the dead.
The League One survival fight is likely to go to the last day — an outcome the Saddlers would have taken when they were eight points adrift of the safety line in January.
And Taundry admitted he knows he's part of a special squad after their monumental efforts of the last few months.
"I wouldn't say it's great to help the club try to stay up because of our position but to be part of it is a big privilege for me," said the former trainee.
"It's a massive time of year for the club so to be part of it is honour. It's not a nice situation to be in but to be part of the team helping the club stay up would be a big thing.
"From where we were at Christmas to where we are now is a step in the right direction for the club. Hopefully we can sort it out this year and take it into next season.
"The players all know personally how big it would be for the club and for us."
Meanwhile, striker Will Grigg admitted he is targeting a final flourish after a breakthrough campaign.
"I've been pretty pleased overall with the progress I have made this season," he added. "I maybe would have liked to have scored a few more goals, but what better time to do it?"
