Walsall 0-1 Fleetwood: Saddlers rue missed chances in third successive home defeat
Walsall suffered their third successive home defeat for the first time in over four years after losing 1-0 against Fleetwood Town at Bescot.

Mark Helm scored the only goal after 15 minutes when he was left unmarked to convert a low cross from Ethan Ennis.
A score of chances followed for Walsall who almost levelled just before the interval when Aaron Pressley was unable to meet Evan Weir's low cross.
Daniel Kanu also drove a low shot wide, but Fleetwood almost doubled their lead when Ennis glanced a header on to the crossbar.
Jid Okeke's cross struck the arm of Finley Potter inside the box, but Walsall's penalty claims were waved away.
The Saddlers are still winless on home soil in 2026 and have gone a total of six games without a home win in League Two.
Mat Sadler named on an unchanged team from the 2-1 win at local rivals Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, while Will Davies replaced Detlef Osong in attack in the only change for Fleetwood.
Walsall had the first sight of goal when Charlie Lakin released Daniel Kanu on the counter-attack, but the Charlton loanee could only send his low drive straight at Fleetwood goalkeeper Jay Lynch.

Fleetwood delivered the breakthrough on the quarter-hour mark when Helm was left unmarked to steer his finish beyond the reach of Sam Hornby from Ennis' low cutback.
The hosts responded well to falling behind and had a cluster of chances to get back on level terms before the break.
Kanu wriggled away from Potter on the edge of the box, but lost his balance at the crucial moment when he blazed over on his weaker left foot.
Charlie Lakin scrambled a fizzing cross by Jamie Jellis into the midriff of Lynch and Kanu had another fierce shot beaten away.
Walsall could count themselves unfortunate to be behind at the break and Pressley came agonisingly close to equalising in stoppage time when he was unable to meet a powerful low ball from Weir on the stretch.
Fleetwood almost delivered a second sucker punch 90 seconds into the second half when Hornby adjusted superbly to sprawl to his left and tip behind Potter's cross-cum-shot.

Flint saw a speculative stabbed effort from the by-line loop on to the top of the crossbar, before Kanu slammed a powerful shot inches wide of Lynch's left-hand post from 20 yards.
Hornby was called upon to keep out Will Davies' tame finish, but Walsall came close again when Jellis' effort was smothered by Lynch, after Flint hooked his header across the six-yard box.
Walsall also had a penalty claim turned away when Okeke's cross struck the arm of Potter inside the box.
Courtney Clarke was introduced just past the hour-mark and was soon joined by Albert Adomah and Jamille Matt, but any hopes of a Walsall comeback were nearly dashed when Ennis glanced his header on to the post.
Matt wasted a glorious opportunity when fellow substitute Aaron Loupalo-Bi delivered a low cutback into his path, but the veteran striker fluffed his lines from close-range.
Next, Walsall welcome automatic promotion contenders Notts County to Bescot on Saturday, before travelling to Salford City next Tuesday.
