Hednesford have tough test

Hednesford Town assistant manager Mark Patterson is expecting a difficult match when they visit Frickley Athletic tomorrow.

The Pitmen beat Frickley 3-0 in the first match of the season back in August, but the Yorkshire side have struggled since and are currently locked in a relegation battle. However Patterson has noticed signs of a revival.

"They're fighting for their lives at the moment," he said. "They got a great result at Marine last week, despite being down to nine players for the second half.

"They'll be buoyant after that and it shows that their team spirit is strong - I'm expecting a very tough match."

The Pitmen had a more than creditable result last week when they drew 2-2 against league leaders Witton Albion and Patterson is looking to build on that display.

"The confidence is coming back now and the players are more resilient, so there's no reason why we can't go an a run from now on."
