Proctor will gain valuable senior experience at the Croud Meadow after impressing throughout Villa’s academy system.

The highly-rated goalkeeper enjoyed a memorable 2024/25 season with Villa’s under-18s, helping them complete a remarkable treble.

He was part of the side which lifted the Under-18 Premier League South title, the FA Youth Cup and the Under-18 Premier League national final, keeping a clean sheet in the latter.

His performances also saw him feature in the Uefa Youth League, Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy, while he was included in Villa’s matchday squad for both legs of their Uefa Champions League quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

Proctor has developed alongside World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez at Villa and was rewarded for his progress with a new long-term contract.

The teenager has also represented England throughout the youth ranks, earning caps from under-16 to under-20 level.

The loan move to Shrewsbury represents the first temporary switch of Proctor’s career and will provide him with the opportunity to test himself in senior football.

He joins up with the Shrewsbury side - managed by Gavin Cowan - as their pre-season preparations continue in the Isle of Man.

Proctor was present at Shrewsbury’s pre-season friendly against Stafford Rangers last week, with Cowan confirming the youngster’s attendance before the move was officially completed.
