Cesar Peixoto explains what pleased him after Wolves beat Stoke

Wolves have won four out of five matches to start the season.

Cesar Peixoto saluted Wolves’ character after they stormed back to beat Stoke 4-1 and continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Wolves went behind after just 80 seconds when Sam Gallagher lashed home from distance.

But they fought back impressively to lead at the break thanks to Rodrigo Gomes’ double.

A Raul Jimenez penalty and Jordan James’ first Wolves goal then sealed a convincing victory for Wolves, who moved top of the Championship table ahead of the rest of Saturday’s fixtures.

Peixoto took encouragement from the way his team responded to the early setback.

He said: “We concede a goal and the reaction the team has is very important for us.

“It shows personality, character to fight for the three points.

“After that, we score four goals, we can score more. We play well, we’re organised.

“We can score more and I think the boys did a great, great job today.”

Peixoto has now won four of his first five matches in charge, with this being the first at home in the league.

“I talked with the players before the game, the importance of this victory,” he said.

“The importance to try to do the right body shape, the right body language, to bring our supporters to support us when things are not in the right way, like we did today.

“I think the players show character, personality and quality when we have the ball.

“We find the right space, we defended well, did not concede a lot of chances to the opponent. I think today we did a great game during 90 minutes, not only 45 minutes.

“It’s important, but only three points. We have to stay humble and work hard like we’ve worked since I arrived at the club.”
