Emeka Obi’s 10th minute strike proved enough to earn Harriers a fourth straight win in National League North.

Murray, who warned his team there would be no time for celebrations as they quickly refocus on Tuesday’s visit of Telford, said: “I think we got what we expected, a fight, a war, with not much football played.

“We told the lads in the last few days we can talk about tactics but at this time of year, with it also being a local derby, the football side goes out of it to a large extent.

“Today was about the battle and winning the war. Local derbies are more than just football matches. They carry a lot and we were desperate to give our supporters the three points.”

Tyrone Barnett’s late-winner bagged Halesowen Town a 2-1 win at Worcester City which moved them back to within striking distance of the Southern Central Premier top-five.

The veteran striker had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes before powering home Kyle Finn’s cross to earn the Yeltz victory in front of more than 2,300 supporters at Sixways.

Rushall Olympic remain in the Northern League Premier bottom three after going down 5-1 at Ilkeston Town.

Substitute Harry Wakefield’s 76th minute strike brought the travelling Pics some rare cheer on an otherwise rough day.

Stafford Rangers’ miserable run continued as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Chasetown, their sixth straight defeat in Northern League West.

Ty Webster and Luke Yates scored either side of half-time for the Scholars, with James O’Neill’s late strike proving only a consolation for the Boro.

Sporting Khalsa are now level on points with Stafford, sitting 17th in the table after Andre Landell’s 86th minute penalty earned them a 3-2 derby win over Darlaston Town.

Chay Tilt and Landell both scored inside the opening 15 minutes for Khalsa but Darlaston came storming back to level through Kieran Cook’s second half double before the late drama.

Lichfield City dropped out of the top-five in the Midlands Division after they were beaten 2-0 at home by Coleshill Town.
