Storm Stacey races into top 10 on penultimate British Championships weekend
Eccleshall sensation Storm Stacey climbed into 10th in the British Superbike Championships rankings with a fourth-place and two fifth-place finishes at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
Stacey climbed several places during the first lap of the final race and found himself locked in a tight fight with the leading pack.
The 22-year-old eventually finished in fourth, just 0.026 seconds shy of a podium finish following a thrilling last-lap scrap.
He had finished fifth in Sunday's sprint race earlier in the day, after maintaining his momentum after the race was red flagged on lap three due to a technical issue for Peter Hickman.
That followed his fifth-place finish in the opening 18-lap race of the weekend which was plagued by the weather conditions.
After a red flag on the first lap due to sudden rain, Stacey got off to a flying start once the race restarted and set the tone for a strong weekend.
Stacey had secured himself a strong third on the grid during his final practice session with his fastest lap of the weekend (1:45.158).
His consistent run of results has propelled Stacey into 10th in the Championship standings, just 12 points behind Danny Kent in eighth, with one round remaining.
