Eccleshall's Storm Stacey remains in top 10 contention after Netherlands showing
Eccleshall sensation Storm Stacey claimed fifth spot in the final race in the British Superbike Championship in Assen, Netherlands.
In the rescheduled sprint race, which was extended to 18 laps after the initial race was red-flagged due to standing water, Stacey finished ninth spot after a late overtake by Kyle Ryde on the final corner.
He responded in excellent fashion - powering into second by turn one - before shuffling further back into the pack as the race unfolded.
Stacey remained among the frontrunners throughout and boldly passed championship contenders Bradley Ray to reclaim fifth.
His performance in Assen keeps him 12th in the Championship standings and just four points shy of the top 10.
In qualifying, Stacey matched his pace from his final practice session, finishing with 1:37.536s to secure a solid 14th on the grid, just 1.5 seconds away pole sitter Bradley Ray.
