Stuttle was forced off in the first half during the Saddlers' 1-0 home defeat against Grimsby Town on Tuesday night.

Mat Sadler expected a further update by the weekend but anticipated the injury to Stuttle and left wing-back Mason Hancock to be "significant".

With the 19-year-old staring at a potentially long-term spell on the side lines, Premier League outfit Bournemouth have opted to terminate his season-long loan.

A club statement read: "Stuttle featured in all five games for us so far this season and he leaves with our best wishes and support.

"Everyone at Walsall Football Club is right behind you, Jonny. We would like to thank Bournemouth for their fantastic support and cooperation."

CEO Ben Sadler added on X: "Bournemouth incredibly kindly agreed to terminate the loan immediately due to the injury and recovery period, which is a permitted mitigation under the rules, and allows us some extra room to adjust now."
