Forde relishing chance to resurrect his career
Anthony Forde insists he is relishing the challenge after joining Walsall from Wolves.
Forde had not featured for Wolves since appearing as a substitute against Colchester last November and admitted he is keen to get his career back on track.
The Irishman was not signed in time to feature in last night's Capital One Cup game at Southend United but could play against Bradford City in the Saddlers' home opener this Saturday.
"I can't wait to get started," he said. "I feel I will bring creativity to the side and hopefully I can also weigh in with goals.
"I'm very excited by the challenge that stands before me here. I know all about the style of play, so I want to get regular games under my belt and do well for the club.
"I know what a good standard League One is. There are some tough teams but, from what I have seen here, we have the tools and set-up in place to do well."
Forde joined Wolves in 2009 and went on to make 28 appearances – including six in the Premier League – after making his debut against Northampton in 2011. His career has also taken in a loan spell at Colchester and he becomes Saddlers boss Dean Smith's seventh signing of the summer.
The manager revealed Forde had been to train with his squad during the summer and is a player he had his eye on for some time.
"Anthony is a player who came in to train with us a few weeks ago," said Smith. "He is someone that I noted when we played against Wolves in a friendly a couple of years ago and we have kept tabs on him ever since.
"We have a lot of knowledge on the player. He has plenty of potential but, at the same tim,e he realises that is only a word and he has a willingness to prove himself here.
"He's a good character with plenty of quality and I am delighted to be able to bring him in."
