Walsall seal Wolves' Anthony Forde signing

Walsall have completed the signing of Wolves winger Anthony Forde.

The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Saddlers.

Forde made 28 appearances for Wolves after making his debut in the League Cup against Northampton in 2011.

He made just eight starts but did appear six times in the Premier League for Wolves in the 2011-12 season.

"Anthony is a player who came in to train with us a few weeks ago," said Saddlers boss Dean Smith.

"He is someone that I noted when we played against Wolves in a friendly a couple of years ago and we have kept tabs on him ever since.

"We have a lot of knowledge on the player; he has plenty of potential but at the same time he realises that is only a word and he has a willingness to prove himself here.

"He's a good character with plenty of quality and I am delighted to be able to bring him in."

Forde will wear squad number 27 and whilst he is not eligible to play in tonight's League Cup clash at Southend, he will be able to make his debut at the weekend when the Saddlers host Bradford City.

Meanwhile, Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has insisted Walsall is the perfect place for Forde to resurrect his career.

He has not played for Wolves since their 3-0 win at Colchester in October last year as an 89th- minute substitute.

And Jackett believes, under Walsall chief Dean Smith, Forde can thrive after seeing his career hit the buffers at Wolves.

"For him his career has stalled slightly but he is still a very young man and has the opportunity at Walsall now," he said.

"They do very well with these types of lads and have a great track record.

"They don't take many loans, they take people, work with them and do it properly. It's a great club to go to. We are expecting it to go ahead.

"He is going to a good manager, a good assistant in Richard O'Kelly and will get coaching and hopefully play.

"That's a good thing and Walsall punch above their weight. They have been in the top half of the division on a regular basis."
