Birmingham went away with three vital points from Hull after sub Garry O'Connor's 75th minute goal at the KC Stadium.

The Scotland striker, on for Gary McSheffrey, was first to Keith Fahey's cross into the box and guided his header past home goalkeeper Boaz Myhill to finally break the Tigers' resistence.

Myhill had thwarted Blues on multiple occasions earlier on with fingertip saves from Lee Bowyer and Christian Benitez, before again denying Bowyer from point-blank range.

But the visitors were reminded late on that their lead was a slender one when former Wolves midfielder Seyi Olofinjana hit the crossbar with a header, with his follow up cleared off the line.
