Armed police called after man stabbed in West Midlands street - suspect arrested
A man has been arrested after another man was left with serious injuries after being stabbed.
Officers from West Midlands Police were called to Bridge Road in Alum Rock in Birmingham just after at 12.06pm on Tuesday following reports another man had been seriously injured.
Firearms officers were deployed to the incident as part of the response and a 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing and currently remains in police custody.
A woman also sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening or changing.
Detective Superintendent James Munro from West Midlands Police, said: “We believe this to be a contained incident with a man in custody.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to a number of people in the area. But would appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch.
“We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community.

"We would urge witnesses or people with information, including mobile phone or dashcam footage, to please contact us on 101 quoting log number 2105 of 3 March.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also responded to reports of the stabbing after receiving multiple 999 calls, with three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma team and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attending the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a man with serious injuries and administered advanced life support on scene.
"A second patient, a woman, was treated for less serious injuries.”
