Parking at Merry Hill

I have no doubt you have been inundated with complaints about the disgraceful goings on at the Merry Hill shopping centre.

Car parking is a joke at the moment, and getting worse as we get close to Christmas. Of all the times of year to hire out a car park to a fun fair, taking up in excess of 1,000, spaces, this is the worst.

I drop my daughter off for work at 6am so she can do the early delivery. It is dark, secluded and very poorly lit at that time. I prefer to drop her at the entrance and watch her go in through the doors so she is safe. I have no intention of parking.

In an attempt to enter the car park to drop my daughter off I was challenged by a security guard in his van, who raced across the car park as if he was going to ram me.

I braked sharply and he pulled across the front of my car and demanded I leave the car park. I informed him I was just dropping my daughter off at the entrance as a safety precaution due to it being dark.

His reply was that I had no right on the car park due to my daughter being a just a shop assistant. He asked me to leave immediately or he would lock me in by lowering the barrier. At 6am, with no one else about, I was causing some real serious parking congestion, wasn't I?

Several times now at 6am I have been chased around the centre by security staff while attempting to drop my daughter off safely. It's like a scene from Smokey and the Bandit.
