Anti-immigration protest in Wolverhampton city centre fails to materialise

A planned anti-immigration protest outside a Wolverhampton city centre hotel failed to materialise.
The protest outside the Britannia Hotel was planned for 6pm today (August 8).
But Black Country-based supporters of Stand up to Racism turned out in numbers, with only a few people from the British Patriot group protesting.
The event was one of a number planned for locations across the UK, including Solihull, to protest at the UK Government's migration policies and housing asylum seekers in hotels, including the Britannia.
A small police presence was seen around the hotel, close to the Grand Theatre and bus and train stations.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We have a long history of facilitating peaceful protest whilst keeping the peace and will continue to do so."
