Gale-force winds that have battered the West Midlands in recent days are to ease from today, but experts are warning of weeks of unsettled weather ahead.

The area of low pressure which lashed many parts of England with winds of up to 65mph should begin to move away, leading to drier and sunny spells.

But the rain is set to return from tomorrow and continue through the most of the month.

The horrendous weather left one man dead when his motorcycle crashed in the wind and rain.

The 18-year-old, from Shoreham, received serious head injuries in the crash in Lancing, West Sussex at about 4.20am yesterday.

He was taken to Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre, but later died.
