The Duchess of Cambridge joined in activities including boat building and balloon rocket assembling during her visit to the Scouts’ headquarters at Gilwell Park in Essex.

The royal was learning more about plans to welcome children as young as four into the movement.

The pilot scheme for the new younger Scout section was announced late last year, with 20 locations across England to take part initially.
