Disruption on M6 after vehicle fire between Wednesbury and Walsall

Two lanes on the northbound M6 were closed following a vehicle fire between Junctions 9 and 10.

Lanes were closed between Junction 9 (for Wednesbury) and Junction 10 (Walsall) following an earlier vehicle fire.

Two lanes were initially closed near Junction 10 at around 11.58am, with West Midlands Roads warning commuters of minor congestion.

The disruption was expected to remain until 1.30pm, with Motorway Cameras showing photos of congested traffic.

Now, West Midlands Roads has said that the two lanes have reopened, with only the hard shoulder remaining closed. 

On X, the roads authority said: "Just the hard shoulder closed now, past the layby where the vehicle fire took place."

AA Traffic News reported 'slow traffic' due to the incident, saying: "Slow traffic due to earlier vehicle fire on M6 Northbound at J9 A461 Wood Green Road (Wednesbury)."

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
