Three arrested as drugs, cash and weapons seized in Birmingham

Officers from West Midlands Police’s Operation Skybridge team made the arrests

Three men have been arrested after police seized suspected Class A drugs, cash and weapons during an operation in Birmingham.

Officers from West Midlands Police’s Operation Skybridge team made the arrests while carrying out patrols in Selly Oak as part of their ongoing crackdown on crime in the area.

Acting on intelligence about suspected drug dealing, officers stopped and searched two men while on patrol late on Monday, August 24.

Police said a quantity of cash was recovered before further searches uncovered a knuckle duster and two bags containing suspected Class A drugs.

Officers then searched a linked address, where they found further items suspected of being connected with the supply of drugs.

Two men, aged 43 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon. Both remain in police custody.

In a separate incident on Monday, plain-clothed Skybridge officers stopped a vehicle on Whycall Lane and searched a man.

Police said a knife and a stolen bank card were recovered.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

He was also arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference, an offence for which police said he was already wanted, as well as failing to appear and being recalled to prison.

Operation Skybridge officers said they would continue working with residents to identify concerns about crime and take action in response.
