'Super hairo' seven-year-old twins raise more than £4,000 for charity with their first ever haircuts

It was inspired by a TikTok video

Seven-year-old twins became 'super hairoes' when they had their knee-length hair cut for charity, inspired by a TikTok video they watched more than a year ago.

The fundraising event took place at a social club in Birmingham, which was transformed into a place of magic last weekend as twins Willow and Isla had their long locks cut to support children battling cancer.

The sisters, who had never had their hair cut before, made the decision after watching a TikTok clip showing a little girl who had lost her hair due to illness.

Willow immediately declared she would give some of her own and sister Isla followed suit. The nickname "super hairoes" was given by their proud mother, as they donated their beautiful knee-length hair to The Little Princess Trust – a charity that provides real-hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

In a heartwarming scene, the twins bravely sat as the scissors began their work during a carnival-style fundraising event at the Oscott Social Club on Witton Lodge Road.

Organisers set up food and gift stalls, face painting, bouncy castles and raffles as part of the fundraising day, with dozens of prizes donated. A total of £1,100 was raised on the day, taking the overall fund above £4,000 – and still counting – dwarfing the original target of £1,400.

Mum Shaunah Henderson was overwhelmed with pride: "My babies did something amazing. They had their first ever haircut and donated to The Little Princess Trust charity. I could not be prouder of the girls.

“I was overwhelmed by the turnout for the fun day. To those who came, I can't thank you enough. It meant the world, and a special thank you to my family. I couldn't have done it without you."

The twins' journey began long before the scissors came out – with a simple scroll through social media that ended in a promise lasting an entire year. Willow was sitting next to her mother when they came across a video of a little girl with no hair.

"Willow was curious and asked why she didn't have any hair," Shaunah explained. "I just told her she was poorly, and that made her hair fall out."

Willow's response was instantaneous: "Aww, that's okay little girl. I will give you some of my hair."

Her mother admitted: "I honestly felt like my heart was about to burst out my chest."

Shaunah has spoken candidly about the twins' arrival into the world.

Born three months premature and weighing just 1lb each – small enough to fit in the palm of a hand – the girls spent 17 weeks in hospital. Yet despite the odds, she said, "they came out fighting."

Now aged seven and living with autism, the twins have retained that resilience – and they are channelling it into an act of generosity that has left their family bursting with pride.

Before the haircut, the girls' hair fell all the way to their knees – "my very own Rapunzels," in Shaunah's words.

The family originally launched a fundraising page with a goal of £1,400 to cover the cost of two wigs. The Little Princess Trust relies entirely on public donations to provide both hair and hope to children and young people facing cancer.

The twins lost 12 inches each to raise funds for the trust.
