Planned West Midlands train strikes this weekend called off following union talks
The strikes have been suspended following talks
Train strikes that had been due to disrupt transport in the West Midlands this weekend have been called off following talks between a rail company and a union.
West Midlands Railway said the two days of industrial action that were planned for Friday and Saturday (July 31 and August 1) have been suspended following discussions with the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA).
The walkout by staff would have meant a reduced service in the region, but following the agreement a full service will now run.
West Midlands Railway customer experience director Jonny Wiseman said: “We are pleased the TSSA has suspended its strike action, which would have been disruptive for our customers. We now look forward to running our usual timetable on Friday and Saturday.”
The TSSA had previously accused the Department for Transport of “repeatedly failing to fulfil their assurance that an improved rest day working agreement – giving TSSA members parity with other unions – would be secured”.
