Steelmen's symphony: Bilston Town unveil retained squad in style
The production has been praised by supporters
Bilston Town FC have turned the traditional retained list announcement into one of the best social media releases of the summer after unveiling their squad for the 2026/27 season with a cinematic video inspired by the iconic music video for Bitter Sweet Symphony.
Released on the club's X account with the caption, "So... who's retained? Your Town. Your Club.", the video sees Steelmen manager Dave King emerge from Bilston tram station before setting off on a purposeful walk through the heart of Bilston.
As the camera tracks King's journey through the town centre in a single flowing sequence, he is joined one by one by the players who have committed their futures to the club.
The first to appear is player-coach Tom Hurdman, whose experience has become invaluable both on and off the pitch. Moments later club captain Luke Carter joins the procession, followed by vice-captain Ben Priest as the leadership group takes shape.
With every few yards another familiar face steps into frame. Harry Dixon is next to join the walk before Sam Yankson, Tyrique Hunter, Louie Newbold, Natty Hewett, Nathan Guest and Isaiah Beaumont all emerge one by one to fall into line behind their manager.
By the closing moments, King leads an eleven-strong group through the town centre, mirroring the unmistakable style of The Verve’s famous music video while sending a clear message that the foundations of last season's squad remain firmly in place.
The production has been praised by supporters for putting Bilston itself at the heart of the announcement, showcasing local landmarks as well as reinforcing the connection between the club and its community.
