Severn Trent Water issue update over ongoing 'complex' Bilston burst pipe

Work has been ongoing since the end of August to repair the burst pipe, with a full road closure in place.

The community across Bilston have been thanked for their patience and understanding as works have continued to repair a burst pipe which wreaked havoc on the high street.

Engineers and crews from Severn Trent Water have been working at the scene on Church Street since the pipe burst on August 29, with flooding affecting the stretch between Fleet Street and Walsall Street and seeing numerous stores close for the day.

More than two weeks after the burst pipe, Severn Trent have apologised for disruption caused by the works, which included a road closure, and said that the crews were looking to complete the work by the end of the week.

A spokesman for Severn Trent said: “We apologise for any disruption caused as our teams work to complete emergency repairs to a burst pipe in Bilston.

“While we fixed the initial burst quickly, the full repairs needed were more complex and have required a road closure to keep our crews and the public safe.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we look to complete the works and get everything back to normal by the end of the week.”
