It is RAW’s third site delivered in partnership with Hubber, following the success of the Forest Hill RAW Rapid Hub in South London and more recently the Aberdeen RAW Rapid Hub.

The new facility will offer charging speeds of up to 300kW – enabling drivers to top up quickly using contactless payment or all major EV charging apps.

In total it will comprise 16 new charging bays, made up of eight 150kW ultra-rapid bays and eight 300kW ultra-rapid bays, including two dedicated priority bays to help support driver flow during busy periods.

To celebrate the opening of the new facility, drivers will be able to charge for free at the hub from October 27 to 28, with free coffee provided on site.

RAW has also partnered with BYD Stourbridge to bring electric vehicles to the launch event, giving drivers chance to experience and test drive the latest EV technology first-hand.

Jason Simpson, CEO of RAW Charging, said: “We’re delighted to bring a new ultra-rapid charging hub to Dudley, giving drivers across Tipton and the Black Country access to charging speeds of up to 300kW. Our Rapid Hubs are designed to make charging easier to fit into people’s everyday journeys, with rapid, reliable charging in convenient locations.

“To celebrate the launch, we are offering free charging and coffee on site through RAW Rewards. We are also pleased to be working with BYD Stourbridge to bring electric vehicles to the event, giving drivers the opportunity to experience the latest EV technology first-hand. Together, these initiatives underline our wider mission to make EV charging genuinely accessible for the people who need it most.

“This launch is another step forward in our mission to make ultra-rapid EV charging more accessible for all drivers across the UK.”

The new Tipton charging site further expands RAW’s nationwide presence, which now spans more than 500 sites across the UK.

Harry Fox, CEO and co-founder, Hubber, said: “This is a landmark EV charging site for the Black Country and we were delighted to partner with a top-tier operator like RAW to bring it to life.

“Securing a large grid connection and transforming an underused site into a dedicated, purpose-built high-powered hub is exactly what Hubber does best: delivering the vital urban infrastructure our cities and towns need as more drivers without home charging make the switch to electric.

“Mass-market adoption needs hubs like this, not chargers in ones and twos."

The new charging hub in Tipton comes as Sandwell Council progresses a £3 billion regeneration programme to transform housing, transport and energy across the borough, including a £20 million investment in Tipton town centre which includes major works on Owen Street to create safer streets, improved crossings and a more attractive environment.

RAW says its new ultra-rapid hub adds another piece of modern infrastructure to an area already investing in its long-term growth.
