Major housing plans lodged for historic Walsall foundry site in the town centre - latest details here
Major housing plans have been unveiled for a historic foundry site in Walsall
Major housing plans have been put forward for a historic metal foundry site just outside Walsall town centre.
Seventy homes have been proposed for the former Chamberlin & Hill Castings on Chuckery Road.
The proposals include 15 one and two bedroom apartments split across two blocks, and 55 two and three bedroom houses.
The 1.18 hectare brownfield site will have 98 parking spaces, with access from Lincoln Road and Beacon Street.
Part of the application is retrospective as some of the company buildings were demolished last year.

Chamberlin & Hill Castings operated for over a century at The Chuckery site.
In 2023, the company completed a sale and leaseback deal on its premises with Heritage and Hill Investments.
Chamberlin commenced the liquidation process the following year.
The new plans state that the three metre boundary wall running along Beacon Street will be retained in the development to hold onto some of the site’s history.
A target date for a decision has been set in April 2026.
