The litter of nine puppies were named for the speed, strength and spirit shown by both men and women in the world of motorsport, with West Midlands Police hoping the names will help the lovable pups smash their training to be the newest police dogs in the force.

The nine adorable puppies are named: Lando, Lewis, George, Maria, Susie, Silver, Button, Jackie and Olive.

They'll head to temporary homes with the force's range of volunteer puppy walkers, who help to lay the foundations for the vital work the dogs go on to do.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "From world champions to pioneering women in motorsport, these names represent speed, strength and spirit — all qualities we hope these pups will grow into as future police dogs.

"We can’t thank our volunteers enough — their support is what helps turn these playful pups into highly skilled working dogs. From the roar of the racetrack to the call of duty, this litter is already on the right track."
