New BYD Atto 2 DM-i gets £26,995 starting price

Compact plug-in hybrid brings an electric-only range of up to 55 miles.
BYD has confirmed that its new Atto 2 DM-i plug-in hybrid will be priced from £26,995 when it goes on sale at the start of June.
The new plug-in hybrid model uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine that primarily acts as a generator for the car’s electric motor and battery. Entry-level cars get a 7.8kWh battery with a 31-mile electric-only range, while Boost-grade cars benefit from a larger 18kWh battery, which unlocks a 93-mile electric-only range.

When fully charged and combined with the petrol engine, the BYD Atto 2 DM-i will return a claimed 201.7mpg for entry-level Active and 470.8mpg for Boost cars.
All models get a high level of standard equipment, too. Highlights include a 12.8-inch touchscreen with built-in Google Maps and Google Assistant, alongside both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Active-grade cars get two USB-C charging points up front, too, while Boost cars add a high-speed wireless smartphone charging point.
As standard, the Atto 2 DM-i rides on 16-inch wheels, while LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers and an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel are equipped on all cars. Rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera add to the comprehensive list of equipment.

Boost cars also benefit from a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, alongside a 360-degree parking camera and vehicle-to-load technology, which allows the use of the car’s on-board electricity supply to power external devices, such as air pumps or even kettles.
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i will be available to order from August, with cars starting at £26,995 in Active trim or £29,995 in Boost specification.
