Last week a suspected terrorist attack on a Mosque in Tipton sent shockwaves throughout the local community. Earlier in the week we confirmed that the West Midlands Counter Terrorist Unit were treating this as a terrorist incident saying: "Someone who did this looked to cause serious harm or serious damage to property" People local to the area took to expressandstar.com to share their story. "Tipton has become a town the government has forgotten about, and sad to say, it seems to me most of the time it gets into the news is for the wrong reasons. There is a lot of poverty here – and a lot of anger," one person commented, while another said: "I thank the police for the fast operation to evacuate the place before anything could have went off and damaged a lot of places including houses and the mosque."
Wolves is something that always gets our readers talking and the latest news to come from the club is no exception. Last Friday the club revealed they are looking to sign Huddersfield's Danny Ward. This comes after Jeremy Helan signed a four contract with Sheffield Wednesday. The news of yet another player decided to sign for another team left fans feeling angry. "Another target shuns us! Slowly dawning on WWFC that where we are will not even lure these mediocre players to us" "Not surprised , why would a player choose to join us over a championship club when we are in league 1?" Late on Monday a man had a very lucky escape when his car ended up on its side after ploughing into a parked car. The man had to be cut out the wreckage by fire crews following the incident in Goldthorn Hill, Wolverhampton . Despite not wearing a seatbelt the driver left the accident with very little injuries. This story lead to a plea from the Fire Service about the importance of buckling up when behind the wheel.
Yesterday we spoke to Gemma Myring whose wedding reception was almost ruined following the suspected terror attack in Tipton last week. Gemma and her husband Lee had married in Zante last month and were booked in to have their reception at Tipton Sports and Social Club. Following the events of last week Gemma was worried she may have to cancel her special day, luckily their family pulled together and found her an alternative venue. Luckily the Hayes Social Club on Dudley Road had a room free and Gemma and her friends and family were able to celebrate.
Earlier in the week Wolves fan, David Brown and his wife Dawn were revealed as the nation's newest millionaires. The Penkridge couple have pledged not to give up work despite their windfall. Mr Brown bought the lucky ticket from Asda in Stafford and their new found fortune is all thanks to their four year old son. Mr Brown said: "There was a very long queue at the kiosk so I thought I wouldn't bother doing the lottery. But Jack ran over and started scribbling on the lottery tickets. So I thought I may as well do it – we have a lot to thank him for" Our readers took to our Facebook page to congratulate the couple. "How lovely! Congratulations always nice to hear locals getting the big one" While some have a more concerned approach "Why go public? Good luck with all the begging and lying letters, never go public!"
